A van fire has caused some slow-moving traffic on the M6 during the Tuesday morning rush hour.

The engine compartment of a van caught fire between Junctions 31 (Tickled Trout) and 31A (Fulwood/Longridge) around 8.23am on Tuesday.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway and used a thermal imaging camera.

No one was injured by the fire.
