A halal chicken processing factory in Deepdale has been allowed to expand further.

The Gafoor Pure Halal plant in Fletcher Road applied to add a two storey building to the side of its current processing factory.

Councillors at Preston City Council’s planning committee approved the proposals, with eleven councillors voting for the plans with one against.

Planning officers state: “The proposal would be beneficial in improving the facilities for chilled despatch and packing at existing factory premises and would not significantly affect vehicular movements or parking within the site or the amenities of neighbouring residents.

“The proposed building would have an acceptable appearance in terms of its design and materials.”

It follows planning permission for the chicken factory in January last year to add a three storey extension.
