The Fishwick man who died in a dog attack on New Year’s Day has been named.
Liam Hewitson, 22, has been named locally as the victim
He is thought to have died after having a fit and then being set upon by his dog.
The dog, understood to have been a pitbull-type breed, attacked and bit him.
Ambulance crews were called to Dundonald Street in Fishwick at around 3.45pm on Friday 1 January.
Liam was treated for his injuries at the scene but died.
His girlfriend Jessica Hill took to Facebook to pay tribute posting a picture collage of the two of them together and writing “My baby boy always and forever.”

Mizzy Saeed wrote on Blog Preston’s Facebook page: “I’ll miss you Liam. Saying hi to you two hours prior to the awful tragic incident makes it more heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers with the family.”
DI Jane Webb from Preston CID said: “This appears to be a tragic incident in which a man has sadly died.
“Enquiries are on-going to establish the exact circumstances and my thoughts very much remain with his family who are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.”
Friends and family gathered in Dundonald Street on Friday evening to light candles and lay flowers at the house where Liam died.
A Facebook tribute page to Liam has been set up and friends are writing their memories to Liam.
Donna Ianson Kirkby posted on the Preston Police Facebook page: “RIP Liam such a genuine nice polite young lad thoughts are with his family, friends and girlfriend. Fly high with the angels.”
