Any Preston drivers who were on the A6 heading to or from Garstang in the early hours of Tuesday morning are being urged to come forward.

Lancashire Police are trying to piece together the events which led to a Romanian man dying in a collision.

Police say at around 4.10am a silver GMC van was travelling towards the traffic lights at Five Lane Ends on the A6.

It is understood the vehicle collided with the man in his 20s, a pedestrian, near the Bellflower pub.

He suffered significant head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road Policing Officer Sgt 2255 Tracey Ward said: “We are trying to ascertain exactly how this collision has come to occur and so we need any potential witnesses to come forward.

“In particular, we want to speak to the drivers of the HGV and the silver Peugeot vehicle as they may have seen something that could assist us with our investigation.”

Enquiries are continuing to try and trace the deceased man’s next of kin.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident reference 187 of December 22nd.
