Police tape at top end of Lowthian Street by the market

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with wounding and possession of a knife in relation to a stabbing in Preston city centre on Monday night.

Preston Police are continuing to question a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding and he remains in custody.

The 17-year-old is due to appear before Preston Youth Court on Wednesday morning.

Four other males aged between 13 and 25 were released on bail during Tuesday pending further investigations.

An 18-year-old remains in a serious but stable condition at Royal Preston Hospital. He is being treated for a single stab wound to his stomach.

Police were called to Lowthian Street around 5pm on Monday to reports of a fight behind the Black Horse pub.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number 0973 of December 21 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
