A teenager has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Preston city centre.

Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of Section 18 wounding.

It takes the total arrested in connection with the Lowthian Street attack to six.

Four people, aged between 13 and 25, have been released on bail.

Police have been granted more time to question a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of wounding.

Lowthian Street was closed off from shortly after 5pm on Monday after reports of a fight.

Police arrived to find an 18-year-old with a stab wound to his stomach.

He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he is now in a stable but serious condition.

The stabbing is not linked to an incident on Sunday in Fishwick where a man died from stab wounds.
