An ‘opportunistic sexual predator’ has been jailed for sexually assaulting a man at a campsite on the outskirts of Preston.
AdvertisementGraham Pipes, 49, of HMP Preston, has been jailed for five years and four months for two sex assaults.
The first incident took place in the summer of 2009 at the Leisure Lakes campsite in Tarleton.
A 21-year-old man woke up to find Pipes was sexually assaulting him.
He was so traumitised he kept his silence for more than five years before coming forward in October last year.
A second incident relates to the historic rape of a seven year old boy who Pipes was babysitting in 1985.
He has repeatedly denied the offence for a number of years before finally pleading guilty to the assault in October.
DC Catherine Thomas from the Public Protection Unit said: “Graham Pipes is an opportunistic sexual predator who took advantage of a both vulnerable man and a young boy to satisfy his own perverse sexual desires.
“Both victims have shown considerable bravery in coming forward and I hope that today’s result provides them with some solace so that they can start to move forward with their lives.
“I would like to reassure the public that we remain committed to investigating allegations of sexual offences, no matter how historic, and we would encourage anyone who has been a victim to come forward where they will be treated sensitively and professionally.”
