The coffee shop would sit on the Great Shaw Street side of the development

What is currently an abandoned electricity sub-station could become a new coffee shop.

Portergate PropertiesĀ has applied for permission to convert the Great Shaw Street structure.

Its part of the Friargate Court student halls, which are well underway, on the corner of Friargate and Great Shaw Street.

Plans show how the sub-station could be knocked down and in its place a new coffee shop and takeaway would be built.

The coffee shop would sit on the side of the new 253-bedroom flats.

The full plans can be seen on the city council website and anyone wishing to comment can do so there, or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2015/0987 by Sunday 3 January.
