Preston Minster was alive with the sound of Puccini and a packed audience on Monday evening of this week. The entire company, comprising of a complete orchestra conducted by Mike Hall, with 28 solo and chorus singers, along with several behind-the-scenes assistants, delivered a spectacular performance of which Puccini himself would have been immensely proud of.
The three principal soloists were Dan Woodhouse who took the part of the Evil Baron Scarpia, Peter Bowden as Mario Cavaradossi, Tosca’s lover and Jayne Woollam as the leading role of Tosca.
The three act opera tells of the tale of a classical love triangle and slowly reveals the full and tragic story of Tosca.
It was very apparent that the whole audience was without a doubt, thoroughly enthralled by this wonderful performance and it only remains to hope that it will not be long before Musica Lirica visit Preston again with another fabulous operatic presentation.
