Crews tackle the blaze at Ribbleton Lane

Firefighters from across Lancashire worked overnight to contain a fire at a furniture shop off Ribbleton Lane.

Roads remain closed after the fire broke out just before 1am at the industrial unit.

Two appliances were initially sent to the scene but quickly requested assistance resulting in 14  fire engines and more than 80 firefighters tackling the blaze.

Crews managed to contain the fire to one unit and prevent it from spreading to four nearby businesses.

Police closed Ribbleton Lane and surrounding roads due to the fire but all roads are now open now with the exception of Crook Street.

Stagecoach services 1 and 1A are being diverted via Blackpool Road and New Hall Lane.
