Jacobite foot soldiers arrive in Preston. James III is proclaimed king in the Market Place. Officers socialise with locals. Barricades erected at far end of Church Street; in Church Street near the parish church; Friargate near the windmill; and Fishergate.
Now that the full compliment of soldiers had arrived, there are around one thousand, six hundred men in all, who are destined to take on government troops.
