Preston has been ranked as the cheapest student city in the UK.
AdvertisementStudent costs including food and drink, rent and transport were analysed and towns were indexed on a scale of 1-100 to produce the results.
Guildford, Surrey was found to be the most expensive, costing as much as 21 per cent more than the same lifestyle in Preston.
Lucy Haigh, campaigns officer for the University of Central Lancashire Students’ Union, said: “It’s fantastic to hear that Preston is the cheapest overall and students can get more for their money, especially with university being more expensive these days.”
“I’m hoping in the long run this will increase our student experience.”
Although Preston was beat by Luton for the cheapest pint and Swansea for the least expensive taxi, Preston was still the cheapest overall in the ParcelHero’s Student Cost of Living Index.
