A 33-year-old man was set upon by a group of eight men during an attempted robbery in Moor Park.
AdvertisementPolice are appealing for witnesses after the incident that happened around 10pm on Thursday 22 October.
The victim was walking through Moor Park when the group approached him – all thought to be between 17 and 21 years old – and the man was punched in the face.
He fell to the ground and the gang tried to take his wallet. The victim challenged his offender and this caused them to back away.
The man sustained a swollen nose and lip in the attack.
The offenders are described as a group of eight males, five of whom were white and three who were Asian. All were described as being aged between 17 and 21 years old.
The main offender is described as white, approximately 6′ 2″ tall with short dark brown hair, a thin long face and was wearing a grey tracksuit and white waist length jacket.
DC Nicola Barnes of Preston CID said: “This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public who was making their way home after a night out and I would urge anyone with any information at all to please to come forward.
“We are particularly keen to talk anyone who was near to the scene at the time of the incident who may have seen a group of males in the vicinity.”
