A plastics recycling bale Pic: recycleharmony
A waste processing plant on the outskirts of Preston has been give the go ahead to operate 24-hours-a-day during the week.
Valpack Recycling says being able to increase its operating hours is the only way to keep itself financially viable.
Lancashire County Council’s development control committee gave the nod in early September to the proposal.
It will see the premises at Rough Hey Road at Red Scar near Grimsargh operate until 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
A number of nearby residents objected to the change in operating hours saying it would affect their quality of life.
These objections were dismissed by the county council as it gave Valpack the go ahead.
