A budding Preston artist is taking his battle with alcohol and depression onto the streets of the city.
AdvertisementSimon Peter Botterill has created a sculpture of a man out of cans of special brew.
The drink – synonymous with those living rough on the streets – also gives the tin-can-man his name of My Special Friend.
Mr Botterill, about to start his second year studying Fine Art at the University of Central Lancashire, said: “This is an ongoing side project raising awareness on alcoholism, depression and homelessness.
“I’ve suffered from all having lived in Fox Street homeless hostel and the like but have turned it all around.
“Well I still enjoy a drink occasionally. So it’s from the heart.
“I post a different photo everyday so it’s an ongoing ever evolving story that people can tune into.”
Mr Botterill has an Instagram account where you can follow My Special Friend’s progress around the city.
