Preston has made it into the top ten list of the UK’s luckiest cities, coming in at number seven.

Portsmouth topped the list as being the luckiest, while other North West cities including Manchester and Liverpool made the top three.

Gaming website, Maria Casino, conducted the survey by looking at over 8,000 winners and their locations. The study also took into account Twitter data to see geographically where positive mentions of “luck” were used.

The results showed that most of the same ranking of cities also perceived themselves as having the lucky streak online. Preston however, fell short of the perception rankings.

The top ten list of lucky UK cities is as follows:

1. Portsmouth
2. Liverpool
3. Bangor
4. Manchester
5. Chichester
6. Dundee
7. Preston
8. Newcastle
9. Leeds
10. Inverness
