Various Preston City Council members could soon be issued with up to 26 more iPads after a pilot scheme in 2012 found them to be beneficial.
AdvertisementThe scheme began with just six iPads in a quest for paperless working, particularly in council meetings, however the success of these has led to the idea that more should be rolled out to those who asked for one.
Other devices were considered at the time, with the final decision resting on the iPad as the most appropriate for the job.
Corporate Management Team and key Council members were among the first to receive one, with new members now being considered. The decision lies not only on the individual and what they would want but also on their position within the authority and how much use they would get out of using one of these devices.
A spokesperson for Preston City Council supports the venture as a significant step forward saying that this venture is not just technology for technology’s sake, but helps provide better flexibility and enables members to carry out their jobs effectively.
