Daniel Feeny, 20, is now over half way through spending seven days and nights in a cage on the grounds of the Fulwood Free Methodist Church to bring awareness of the world wide problem of human trafficking. Dan has taken only a bible in with him and a mobile phone for emergency purposes and nothing else. He has been having only one meal per day and only leaves the cage for toilet purposes. People have been visiting him to keep him company but there is obviously a great deal of time where he is alone and at those times he reads his bible.
AdvertisementThere are an estimated 35.8 million slaves in the world today and every single year 1.2 million children are trafficked. It is also estimated that there are currently 9000 people in Britain alone who have become trafficked slaves. Daniel said “This has been challenging, but really worthwhile for such an extremely good cause and I just want people to know that everyone can do something to help either by donating to the Tearfund organisation or by finding out more about human trafficking on the Abolishing Injustice in the 21st Century or by viewing the Hope For Justice websites”.
Daniel also has sets of leaflets with him, explaining more about the huge problem of human trafficking and the countries in which it is currently a rife practice. For those who want to discover more ways of helping, there is a ’20 ways to help’ leaflet which describes many ways in which you can do something yourself.
Daniel would be very happy to talk to anyone who would care to pop over to the church where he will gladly explain more about the cause to eradicate human trafficking.
