A Preston city centre book shop inside a listed building is to get a new coat of paint.
Waterstones has applied to repaint and repair the frontage of its Fishergate shop.
Plans tabled explain how the current black and bottle green window colours are to be changed.
The book shop chain states: “This project is for the repair and maintenance of the exterior of the building, with the aim to prolong the life of the building fabric.
“All repairs have been specified to either match the existing materials or clean the existing so as not to alert the visual appearance of the building and to maintain the long lasting finishes originally used in the construction, including roof repairs and roof window repairs and redecorating.
“Waterstones are rolling out a new shop front colour, which will significantly change the aesthetic of the shop front, currently painted black and the front elevation windows to ground, first and second floors currently bottle green, hence the listed building application.”
The full plans are available to view on the Preston City Council website.
Anyone can comment on the plans can be made on the city council website or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2015/0666 by Saturday 5 September.
