A new toilet at a car park dedicated for disabled people and their families could be installed.
AdvertisementThe Changing Places toilet would be the fourth of its kind in Preston and the first in the city centre.
A new larger toilet would be built at the Chapel Yard car park.
Lancashire County Council has agreed to fund the toilet, which would be larger than usual at 5.8 metres by 3.9 metres, and would cost £96,000.
The county council is currently considering whether it would fund the ongoing running costs of the toilet – estimated to be around £4,500 per year. If not, Preston City Council would need to pick up the tab.
Chapel Yard is located between Fleet Street and Friargate and is only for blue badge holders.
Other Changing Places toilets currently operate at Preston North End, West View and Fulwood leisure centres.
Preston City Council’s cabinet is being asked to approve the plan for the new toilet on Wednesday.
