UCLan won a regional award for it’s business support at the Lancashire Business Awards.
The Northern Lights Incubation Unit at the university was named Best Business Enable of the Year at the award ceremony which was hosted by Downtown in Business.
The team was up against five others who were shortlisted in the category, as a total of 21 awards were presented throughout the evening.
The event was held at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Blackburn.
Northern Lights Business Incubation Manager Peter Rawling said, “We are delighted to have been acknowledged for our work in this area. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Northern Lights team members who work closely with our start-up businesses to nurture and develop them.
“The University has an excellent reputation for enterprise support and training through its Northern Lights programme. UCLan continues to excel in graduate start-up activities; it is still the leading UK university for the number of start-ups still active after three years with an increase of 14% according to the latest Higher Education Business and Community Interaction Survey (HEBCIS).”
The Northern Lights team just missed out on scooping a second award, after being shortlisted for Best Social Media Presence of the Year.
