Three men have been arrested from an address in Ribbleton as part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
AdvertisementThe men who are believed to be connected to trafficking offences were arrested after a warrant was issued on the Longworth Street property earlier this morning on Monday July 27.
The men, aged 33, 35 and 42, are all from Romania, and have been arrested on suspicion of trafficking people into the UK for sexual exploitation.
Four women found at the property are speaking to specially trained officers.
Insp Paul McLernon said: “This area of policing is complex and identifying human trafficking/modern slavery can be difficult. In many cases organised crime groups are behind the trafficking of people into the UK and they will target some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
“Today’s activity shows our commitment to tackling this issue and we want to encourage more victims to come forward knowing that there is help out there for them. I would urge anyone who suspects that someone is being treated in this way to contact 101 and help them.”
