A gathering for creatives in the city of Preston turns a year old this week.
POWWOW has been held every other month since last summer and brings together businesses, freelancers and students in the creative sector.
Creative Lancashire – run by Lancashire County Council – has been putting on the events.
Ed Matthews-Gentle from Creative Lancashire explained: “There are no speakers and no advisors at POWWOW. It’s just a great chance to meet up with like-minded creative people, discuss issues in the sector, and explore new business ideas.
“We started these events a year ago, because people working in the creative industries told us that they wanted more opportunities to talk to other people from their sector, share ideas and network. We listened to what they told us and we’ve set up this exciting event.
“Over the past year it’s developed really well, with events taking place in Blackburn and Lancaster, as well as Preston. And we’re currently working to set something up in Burnley.
“These events help to create the environment for businesses to collaborate, scale-up and grow in the region.
“Through our discussions with people in the sector, we identified a need to create an environment across the county to facilitate, connect and encourage this.
“It’s possible thanks to our sponsors, who provide us with the funding to put on these creative networking events. Come along and join our creative POWWOW.”
It is free to attend POWWOW and the next one takes place on Thursday 30 July from 6pm to 8pm at Glovers Bar. You need to register via Eventbrite to attend.
