Blitz nightclub will return as a late-night venue within the city.
AdvertisementPeter Alexander, the man behind the venue which used to operate in Great Shaw Street, has won permission to open until 4.30am every day.
Councillors on the licensing committee ignored an objection from Lancashire Police who argued there would be a risk to public safety in the venue operating so late.
In April the committee had rejected an application from Blitz to open until 5.30am.
Blitz has not yet operated from its new Lord’s Walk home, which used to be the Frog and Bucket comedy club, but its owner Mr Alexander said it would be back soon now permission has been granted.
Councillors applied a number of conditions on the licence, which will permit alcohol being served until 4am.
Conditions include no more than 310 persons in its main room at one time and no more than 110 in the smaller room.
Additional CCTV cameras also need to be installed to monitor the premises and surrounding streets.
Deliveries to the venue must only take place between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
