A number of cyclists turned out for The Big Pedal despite poor conditions.
AdvertisementLast Sunday (July 26), cyclists braved the elements to take part in the family-friendly event at Avenham Park which also featured lots of entertainment and other activities to do.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure, Councillor Veronica Afrin, said: “Preston’s Big Pedal was a celebration of cycling and provided an opportunity for families to take in routes around Avenham Park and Winckley Square.
“It was great to see so many families brave the rain to take part in the led Sky Ride, enjoy the traffic free route around the idyllic Georgian Square and get hands on with the cycling activities on the park.
“We are hoping this year’s event will lead to a larger cycling celebration in 2016 which will feature longer rides around the city.
“I would also like to thank our partners who attended Preston’s Big Pedal offering expert advice on road safety and general bike maintenance.“
