Hundreds of bright red shoes littered Birley StreetĀ on Saturday as a reminder of the lost physical presence of women.

Elina Chauvet’s artwork is put on by The Birley art gallery and studios.

The shoes were in place between 11am and 4pm.

Within the art gallery Georgienna C Ainsworth was creating live textile art.

The Birley Studios was recently listed in the Hannah Directory which showcases the best arts venues in the North of England.
