Five times British Barbershop Champions, Cottontown Chorus, will be making a ‘one night only’ appearance at the Preston Minster for an evening of wonderfully entertaining barbershop harmony.
The Cottontown Chorus was formed in 1979 and has won the British Barbershop Championship five consecutive times since 2005. The chorus also won the Barbershop class at the Llangollen Eisteddfod in 2005 and 2007. In 2006 they represented the UK by competing in Indianapolis at the International Barbershop Convention. In 2008 the chorus sang at the BinG (Barbershop in Germany) Convention which took place in Dortmund, The Ladies Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS) Convention in Bournemouth and The Sweet Adelines Convention at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. Cottontown Chorus also won first prize in the MACC (Manchester Amateur Choral Competition) at the Royal Northern College of music and in the IABS (Irish Association of Barbershop Singers) chorus competition in Sligo. They also became the BBC Radio 3 Adult Choir of the Year, and earlier in 2009 they won silver in the men’s European chorus competition in Veldhoven in Holland. 2013 they became the British Association of Barbershop Singers Gold Medal Chorus.
