An elderly woman is being treated in hospital after being injured while travelling on a bus in Preston.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident on a Preston Bus as it went along Sharoe Green Lane.

It happened around 1.30pm on Wednesday. Police say the bus had come to a halt at a zebra crossing near the Booths supermarket.

The woman got up out of her seat and when the bus set off again she fell backwards and struck her head on a step at the back of the bus.

Road policing officer PC Dave Hurst said: “This woman is very poorly and we are asking anyone who may have seen the woman as she fell on the bus to get in contact.”
