Preston North End fans responded with glee after their team reached the League One play-off final.

A 3-0 home win at Deepdale today confirmed their spot following a 1-0 win at Chesterfield in the first leg on Thursday.

And PNE even continued their run of play-off wonder goals as Jermaine Beckford scored from the half-way line to wrap up the game. Last year, Joe Garner’s strike against Rotherham was the bright spot of an unsuccessful play-off campaign.

PNE will now play either Sheffield United or Swindon Town at Wembley on May 24 with promotion to the Championship at stake. Fans will be hoping they can put their dismal play-off record to rest.

A pitch invasion followed the full time whistle with fans and players struggling to contain their excitement.
