Two Highfield Priory Primary School students completed a 2K run for the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Manchester.
Six-year-old Tia Patel and eight-year-old James Wilkinson completed the Morrisons’ Mini Great Manchester Run at Heaton Park, in less than 12 minutes.
The Preston school regularly raise money for the charity that provides families with a “home away from home” for children receiving treatment at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Tia is one of the charities youngest fundraisers.
Over three years, she has raised £2163 for the charity and Tia’s father, a former marathon runner is extremely proud of her achievements, “Other people have been so supportive and impressed that she wants to take part at such a young age. Tia is an energetic, sporty girl and this run was a great opportunity for her to stay fit, as well as raise money for such a fantastic charity.”
Jo Wilkinson, Manchester Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities, said, “Ronald McDonald House Manchester has supported over 529 families in the Preston area and we are overwhelmed by the support and generosity given to the Charity by everyone. Events such as the Mini/Junior and 10k runs are a great way of not only raising funds but also increasing awareness of the work we do.”
