A Preston city centre pub was evacuated late on Friday night after smoke was seen coming from the toilets.

The Twelve Tellers in Church Street had to order its customers outside shortly after 9pm.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended and put out a fire involving a quantity of rubbish in an external drain at the pub. Crews from Preston and Penwortham attended.

A cigarette had gone down the drains and set fire to the pile of rubbish.

Three fans were used to remove the smoke from the venue.

The Wetherspoons pub was back open by 11pm.
