Two Preston beauty queens have called on the city to donate food for rough sleepers.
AdvertisementCurrent Miss Preston Dominique Harrison-Bentzen, who spent 24 hours on Preston’s streets in December and raised £40,000 for charity, has launched the campaign.
She is joined by Junior Miss Preston Abbie Kerr and the pair want to highlight how although the weather gets warmer the need for help for the homeless is just as strong.
Miss Harrison-Bentzen said: “The lead up to the summer months can be a difficult time for the homeless and those in need. The vulnerable community are in need of our help throughout the entire year and unfortunately, after the winter months have passed, food donations often suffer.
“Throughout May we are asking for Prestonians to do their bit for the Foxton Centre.”
Items they are looking for include tinned food (vegetables, meatballs, soup), pasta, jars of pasta sauce, rice, cereal, long life milk and Pot Noodles.
The campaign has a Facebook page where information is being posted about the donations.
The Foxton Centre supports those in need in the city.
Anyone wanting to make a donation is asked to contact the centre to arrange a drop off time. They can be called on 01772 555925.
