Man dies following early hours M6 crash

A pensioner has died in a collision on the M6 heading towards Preston in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses after a silver Ford Fiesta came off the motorway between Junctions 33 and 32 and collided with a tree.

The driver, a 75-year-old man, was found dead at the scene around 2.20am.

Sergeant Claire Pearson of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are trying to establish how this collision occurred and I would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Fiesta on the hard shoulder to contact us.”
