Solar panels producing enough power for 2,500 homes could be put up at a farm near Preston.
AdvertisementTGC Renewables has applied for permission to create a solar farm at land near Fell View Farm in Grimsargh.
If approved the solar array would cover 23.5 hectares in the fields off Preston Road.
The solar panels would not exceed 3m in height and be accessed via new track built at the farm.
The firm behind the solar farm say the development would be operational for 25 years.
Local residents are being invited to invest in the scheme and TCG held a consultation event in Grimsargh Village Hall on Monday 9 February.
A statement from the firm said: “The proposed solar farm development at Fell View Farm would result in very few landscape or visual effects. No cumulative landscape or visual effects would arise as a result of the development of this site, in the absence of any other solar farms within 5km of the site.”
The full plans are available to view on the city council website.
Anyone wishing to comment can do so via the council website or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk quoting reference 06/2015/0288 by Sunday 17 May.
The plans will go to planning committee in the coming months for a decision.
