Chesterfield FC have confirmed that Ian Evatt has given a statement to the police over an alleged assault by PNE fans.
A pitch invasion followed Preston’s 3-0 win over Chesterfield in the play-off semi final second leg in which former Blackpool player Ian Evatt appeared to be confronted by PNE fans.
Chesterfield FC confirmed via their official Twitter account that Ian Evatt had spoken to the police.

Any incident could have marred what was a wonderful afternoon as PNE bounced back from disappointment on the final day to book their place at Wembley on May 24.
Evatt himself has now tweeted describing what happened.

Lancashire Police have confirmed they are investigating an assault on the Chesterfield player.
A spokesman for the force said: “While the player was thankfully not seriously hurt police are investigating the assault in a bid to identify the offender, or offenders, including reviewing cctv footage.”
