An elderly woman has died following a collision in Penwortham.Advertisement
Betsy Lowe, 74, from Much Hoole, died at Royal Preston Hospital on Tuesday 19 May nine days after the accident in Liverpool Road.
A Honda Jazz collided with a parked car around 5pm on Sunday 10 May and Mrs Lowe originally had what were thought to be minor injuries.
However her condition deteroriated and she died after being taken to hospital.
Her husband Paul Lowe paid tribute to her.
He said: “Betsy ‘Betty’ Lowe sadly passed away at Preston Hospital on Tuesday 19th May having been admitted to hospital following a road traffic collision. A retired Magistrate, she enjoyed travelling and volunteered for many local causes. She was much loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed.”
Sgt 3847 Claire Pearson of the Road Policing Unit said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are very much with Betsy’s family and friends at this difficult time. An investigation into how the collision occurred is underway and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision to make contact with us.”
