Blitz: before and after

Preston said goodbye to another music venue with the loss of Blitz over the weekend.

Before this weekend’s demolition, the nightspot hosted some of the most loved nights in Preston, thanks in part to their allegiance with YBD (the firm that owns MACs and Ships and Giggles).

We’ve put together your best memories of the club taken from our Facebook page after we asked you to share.

Here they are:

Wattie LA Robinson Gatsby..chicken n chips in a basket

Andy Norris Gatsby chicken n chips in a basket dancing to Terence Trent D’arby then years later dancing to Funky house with Greg Bamber and Locky. Gone but forever in my memories

Tom David Brain I think I went in like 3 times the last time I went into Blitz I got one of my Shoes nicked

Sharon Shepherd Gatsby era was the best disco downstairs live acts upstairs. Had a few good nights there

James Reid Putting on some of the biggest bands I have ever put on there.Ā Massive loss to Preston nightlife

Marie Dixon I remember it when it was The Gatsby, it was great you didn’t have to put up with all the idiots in the centre of town you could have a good night without someone starting on you, I liked it as The Blitz too, great band venue

Victoria Scott Sad day for live music. Metal to the masses was held here

Louise Wyatt Used to go Gatsby way back and met my hubby in there too when it was Green. Last place you’d expect to meet a husband
