How the new nursery would look
Proposals to build a new childrens day nursery in the North West corner of Preston are due to be rejected.
AdvertisementBramley and Pate Architects wanted to create the nursery which would accommodate up to 120 children when completed.
Land at Lightfoot Lane in Woodplumpton where the nursery would be built is currently earmarked for housing in the North West Preston Masterplan.
Woodplumpton Parish Council objected to the nursey saying it was the “wrong design” and “is out of keeping with the cottages and properties currently on Lightfoot Lane”.
22 letters of objection from local residents were also received.
Planning officers have recommended councillors on the city council planning committee reject the nursey plans.
They say: “The proposed development would deliver benefits to the city, in that a new community facility would be provided in an accessible location.
“However, a need for the proposed use has not been demonstrated and development of the site for the use specified would serve to undermine the basic principles of the North West Preston Masterplan.”
The plans are due to be discussed at the planning committee on Monday from 10am.
The full nursery plans can be found on the city council website.
