Preston Roller Girls won their first bout in the British Championship against Spa Town Roller Girls.
AdvertisementThe team are Lancashire’s first in the national roller derby league and hosted the event at Preston College.
The build-up and preparation for the roller derby team’s first bout in the British Championship did not disappoint, as Preston Roller Girls were up 89-49 at half time against the Harrogate side.
They finished 209-137 and took to twitter to share their celebrations. The success wasn’t without injury however, as one of the Preston Roller Girls fractured her sternum but was able to continue playing.
During the championship, each team plays each other once in all divisions, and features different tiers in different tournaments.
Preston Roller Girls’ next home bout outside of the British Championship, is May 17 where both A and B teams will take on North Wales.
