Shoppers in Preston city centre Pic: Tony Worrall
After Preston hit the headlines for having the unhealthiest high street in the land we decided to do something about it.
AdvertisementLaunching our Preston Independent Business competition was our small way of giving something back to support those businesses who help make our city centre great.
Below are four we shortlisted in the city centre who could win three month’s free advertising on Blog Preston and then access to a discounted rate after this.
Have a read of why they think they should win below and then cast your vote in our poll.
Harlequins board games, Manchester Road
Why they think they should win:
We are a Board Game, Card Game and Hobby store. We have seating for 70 people to play a wide variety of board and card games. We host regular events for different parts of our community with some events reaching over 100 people.
The Horology Centre, Fishergate Walk
Why they think they should win: Because while many other retailers have left Preston City centre, we have done nothing but fight against the odds to be here. We believe in Preston and the people who live and visit the city. We can make it great again.
Mary and Milly, Guildhall Street
Why they think they should win: Mary & Milly is an exciting fashion business offering stand out stylish clothing, jewellery and acessories at amazing prices. Mary & Milly provides a memorable shopping experience for all the right reasons. Refreshingly Mary & Milly offers something different from the sometimes samey fashion chain stores of the high street. Mary & Milly connects with customers though an online boutique on ASOS Marketplace, as well as through pop up shops across the north west, local home parties and most recently through a brand new Mary & Milly fashion boutique. The boutique offers a unique shopping experience and exciting services such as shop parties right in the heart of Preston city centre.
4mat Digital, Friargate
Why they think they should win: We always try to make the customer feel special, whether it’s an Pensioner wanting some photocopying or Lawyer requiring a fast, confidential repair to their laptop. We always thank anyone coming into the shop, even if we couldn’t be of assistance that time.
