Your Housing Group have funding of up to £50,000 to give to young tenants who can apply for helping regarding education, employment and training, volunteering, music and sport.
This April will be the third year the housing association has offered the Young Person’s Bursary, with YFEST2015 offering advice on how to apply, entertainment, as well as a DJ set from Lebohang Maphike who received a grant to aid his music production course at Preston College.
YFEST2015 will take place on March 21st at The Fuse, in Partington, and is open to any young person living in a Your Housing Group property across the North West.
As well as performing, Lebohang will also be contesting in Show Off, a talent show where five will be selected to perform on the day. Young tenants can upload a video file to audition, where the remaining five will be judged by a panel to select the winner. Prizes will be given to runners up of £50 high street vouchers while the winner will walk away with £200.
Lebohang said: “The bursary money was a big help to me as it allowed me to work on my college course. Without the funding support to buy equipment I might not have had the chance to continue my studies.
“I’m looking forward to performing at YFEST2015 as it’s a chance to showcase my skills, and I hope that anyone else who might need assistance achieving their goals will think about applying for the bursary.”
