Preston TableTop Day 2015 is coming to UCLan next month, in a bid to encourage more people to the generation of modern games.
AdvertisementThe day aims to be a celebration of board and table-top games and gives people the chance to play and socialise as well as participate in a taster session with Preston based club Red Steel where people can play miniature war games. A Pandemic tournament and “open gaming” where you can bring along your favourite game, will also be on throughout the day.
Pandemic, is a game where players team up with their friends to play against, and save the world from deadly diseases.
The event was funded by a Kickstarter campaign, where £1200 was raised to support the day and organiser Millie Lavelle said, ““Board games have changes so much since I was a kid, it’s not just roll the dice and hope for the best any more, there’s so much innovation and fun in board games these days!
“It’s also amazing how many people have supported the event through Kickstarter, so that we can make it a free on the door event.
Millie has organised events before, and is grateful to be able to get hold of a “Table Top Day” kit, with exclusive promotional items from modern games publishers and special editions of games.
She said, “We’ve been very lucky to get this promo kit, its contents have some real treats for new and experienced games alike. It’s been great to have support of our local games shop, Harlequins Games, we wouldn’t have all these freebies without their help.”
The event begins at 10am on April 11 and while tickets are free, registration is required either through their facebook page or by following this Eventbrite link.
