A young woman has died in a suspected hit and run incident in a road at the edge of Preston.
AdvertisementLancashire Police were called to Preston New Road, Clifton, at 10.50pm on Tuesday.
They found a young woman, aged between 16 and 22, lying in the road injured.
She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but has died.
Police have launched an appeal to trace the young woman’s next of kin.
Road policing officer Sergeant Sean Cunningham said: “This is a tragic incident where a young woman has sadly passed away after what appears to be some kind of collision.
“We are still trying to determine exactly what has happened and how the woman has come to be injured.
“At this moment, the woman’s identity is still to be found and so we are asking anyone who may recognise her description to come forward.”
She is described as approximately 5’10”, of slim build, with long dark hair that would come to the middle of her back and appears to have feathers woven into it.
She was wearing black Nike trainers, jeans and a grey hooded top.
