The family of a brave Preston tot battling brain cancer has received the news they “never wanted to hear”.
AdvertisementPippa Cole, 3, has been in and out of hospital fighting a second brain tumour – and her family thought she’d beaten it.
Doctors have now confirmed X-rays show nearly the whole of little Pippa’s spine is lined in tumours.
Pippa, who lives near Preston, was due to fly to America to receive pioneering Proton Beam Therapy treatment but this now looks unlikely to happen.
A fundraising page had been set up with more than £12,000 raised to help fly Pippa to the States and pay for the treatment.
Her mother Michelle posted on Facebook: “11 days ago we got the news that we never wanted to hear. Pippa’s MRI scan showed that there are more tumours in the brain and nearly the whole of her spine is also lined in tumours. The cancer is also in the spinal fluid. This cancer is now too advanced, they have told us they can no longer cure Pippa.
“Pippa is now having radiotherapy to hopefully shrink the tumours temporally with the aim to give us and Pippa more time together and to continue to create amazing memories together.
“We know time is against us but we are going to try and do as many things together as a family and ensure we have as many wonderful memories as we are possibly allowed.
“We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the support that you have all shown us, it’s truly overwhelming. With out this fund we would not be able to continue to create these memories and more importantly the kind words and support you have shown us is extremely comforting.”
