Major resurfacing works on the junction of North Road and Ringway are on track to finish on Friday.

Workmen have been braving the freezing temperatures, hail, sleet and snow in the past few weeks and have pulled the project back on track.

Lancashire County Council say they’ve pumped extra resources into ensuring the resurfacing works finish on time.

Minor works are due to continue after Friday as detectors and cables need to be fitted to traffic signals and will be completed by Friday 20 February.

The junction, by the Holiday Inn, has been subject to roadworks throughout the back end of 2014 to install new traffic lights and lane closures overnight in January for the resurfacing.

A spokesman for the county council said: “All being well, the whole thing should all be finished around Friday 20 February.
