Penwortham resident Pat Howson, engaged to ukulele legend Formby,” said Andrew, who lives in Penwortham. “Following in-depth research I have managed to trace personal friends of Pat Howson, along with previously unpublished interviews and photos,” said Andrew. Andrew has interviewed ex-employees of Loxhams Car Showrooms, Preston, where Pat’s dad Fred was General Manager, and from whom Formby bought Bentleys, Rolls Royces and Jaguar cars. Investigative journalism by Andrew has uncovered a plethora of untold revelations about Pat Howson, and that of her time with Formby, who was set to marry Pat in 1961, only to be thwarted by a fatal heart attack. Andrew has visited the house in Penwortham where Formby suffered a heart attack; along with the Georgian Mansion in Lea, Preston, that Pat Howson and Formby had purchased. And Andrew has had access to Pat Howson’s final home abode – a flat in Penwortham – before she entered a Nursing Home, after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. “I have interviewed Pat Howson’s former golf colleagues; traced her school years in Leyland, the Preston schools she taught at; and the Parish Church where she worshipped (and had initially arranged Formby’s funeral),” said Andrew. ‘Formby’s Lost Love’ tells the story of the Church where George and Pat were to get married; along with the Nursing Home where she died in 1971. And that of her burial place. ‘Formby’s Lost Love’ features ‘Exclusive’ interviews undertaken by Andrew Atkinson with her close friends – during the time that Pat and George were engaged. Andrew has also got an Exclusive interview with Pat Howson’s Solicitor, during her final year, leading up to her death. And also with a close friend – talking about where Pat and Formby ventured. “Formby’s Lost Love” will be a limited signed Edition. ‘Turned Out Nice Again’ is a British comedy film starring Wigan-born Formby – and Andrew is hoping that it will ‘turn out nice again’ in finding a sponsor/publisher. “The book ‘Formby’s Lost Love’ has already received National as well as local interest in Lancashire. Four books have been written about Formby,” said Andrew. “But the sad and tearful, heart-breaking life-story of Pat Howson has never been published. ‘Formby’s Lost Love’ will reveal it all,” said Andrew.
