Monday 23 February brought some really bad news to the family and friends of Pippa. Michelle Cole wrote onto her Facebook timeline yesterday the following heartbreaking message:
Advertisement“They have found three more tumours on Pippa’s latest MRI scan. Pippa will now have to have radiotherapy to the whole of her brain and spine. We no longer have the time to get to America for Proton therapy, nor will the NHS fund this treatment. She will have the treatment over the next couple of months at the Christie’s hospital. They will not perform surgery to remove the tumours as this will delay radiotherapy and we do not have the time for delays. This treatment is what we have wanted to avoid at all cost. This treatment will leave Pippa with severe physical and mental life long disabilities. We originally fundraised to help us with proton treatment, unfortunately we could not predict this, and we will now continue to fund raise to help Pippa on this next journey. If anybody who has contributed to the fund for proton doesn’t want to support the new treatment please send me a message and we can sort a refund. But to everyone who has and continue to supports us we thank you from the bottom of our hearts xxx”
The name of the treatment Pippa is to have now is craniospinal radiotherapy treatment.
Today, Michelle wrote “it is the proton therapy the NHS won’t fund but it’s too late for that now they don’t have time to wait for it. Pip starts her treatment next Wednesday. We will all be praying for her”.
