Armed Forces Group Preston, who support local veterans and their families, succeded in a recent bid to local councillors in order to purchase a gazebo.  They lost theirs in a freak gust of wind on Avenham Park last August and desperately needed another, more robust version to be able to carry out important fundraising at summer events.  This is their only way to bring in income and without the gazebo they would struggle as their event activities require dry, shaded conditions.

Alan and Jacky were manning a fund raising stall at this event in a gazebo when a freak blast of wind hit their gazebo, lifted it and then rolled it - it was wrecked. It should be noted that their gazebo was the only structure of the many there to be hit!! The wrong place at the wrong time!!

Alan MacLellan and Jacky Hohol were manning a fund raising stall in a gazebo at this event in August 2014, when a freak blast of wind hit their gazebo, lifted it and then rolled it – it was wrecked. It should be noted that their gazebo was the only structure of the many there to be hit!! The wrong place at the wrong time!!

The following councillors have all generously approved a portion of the funding and the gazebo order has been placed, further securing the future of the charity. Out of the 8 councillors approached, 7 clearly understood the wider community benefits of supporting our local veterans. …..
Carl Crompton, keith Sedgewick, Bill Winlow, Yousuf Matala, Geoff Driver, David Borrow and Jennifer Mein.
