Strong winds are expected

More strong winds are expected to sweep into Preston during Monday.

It follows a yellow warning of ice and snow for Sunday, and winds of up to 40 mph have been hitting the city during Saturday.

The Met Office state: “Conditions look conducive for another rapidly deepening area of low pressure to run quickly east-northeast to the north of the UK during Monday.

“There remains some uncertainty on the exact track of this developing low pressure system, and therefore the areas at greatest risk of disruptive winds.”

The Met Office says gusts of up to 60mph could be possible which may cause disruption to the transport network.

The weather warning, which is in force from 3am to 4pm on Monday, is due to be reviewed on Sunday.
