Lancashire Police have moved to warn parents after a Russian website used images of Preston children for disturbing purposes.

Pictures of children from the area were taken from the Facebook pages of proud parents and posted on a website for indecent users.

Concerned parents who accessed the site were understandably disgusted by the comments directed at the images of young children.

Lancashire Police used their Facebook page to post a warning that had to be taken down due to parents sharing the link to the website, which was causing distress.

A new post said: “We have been asked to take the previous post down because of people putting links to the website in the comments.

“We are sorry to have inadvertently caused concern with the post. As you may expect this is an investigation that will go beyond just Lancashire so it may take some time to resolve.”

In the meantime, you are advised to check the privacy settings of your Facebook page and ensure strangers cannot access your personal pictures.
